Burns night was held Monday 25th January This was a traditional Scottish Fayre menu of 4 courses starter, Soup (Cock a Leekie) , Haggis tatties and neeps etc shot of Whisky and sweet followed by coffee in the lounge. customers broughttheir favourite peice of his poetry or one of the spoofs. Traditional dress made the evening but was optional. Great value at £18 all inclusive
Well guys what a night you missed as usual the guests made the evening. Everyone participated and it was an outstanding event. There were Burns poems there were spoofs from Pam Ayres Songs from one of the customers (extremely professional too) Red roses deliverd to the girls whilst 'My love is like a red red rose' I am never sure what it is about Burns that evokes such passion, But then his work was simple in style and subjects and easily identifiable with everyone. We all use fractions of his work every day and do not even realise!
Motherday coming up as well soon book now for lunch
Just a thought should we think of having/ starting a Shakespeare evening?? Let us know what you think ! It would be an ideal subect for a similar 'English' evening. This is another guy who influences us every day we use fractions of his work every day in our language.
